So, talking about John Clendenin the twist and better videos of his skiing, I just found this most recent 'JC with a Client' video, and honestly it is the best of the bunch. It is clearly a pretty strong private client (though older), and it takes a bit (around the 2:30 minute mark) to get to better and better mogul skiing. But it really shows the smoothness of his method and the progression from big round lines in real moguls, to tighter smooth lines in big moguls. The last two minutes has JC skiing a really great, tight, smooth line that looks effortless. It's not quite zipper line (ala Blake Saunders), but it's a very direct, tight, expert line nonetheless. In fact, Clendenin is one of the few people I have ever seen ski this way AND, apropos of the Thread…He's using a semblance of Hansi's TWIST! His client does an admirable job as well.
Enjoy…the softer side of modern ski technique:

JC is a great guy to learn from. Watching his videos in 2007 opened my eyes to how a non-bump skier could manage bumps so much easier.... AND the bonus was....taking the new skill sets into powder, trees and all over the mountain.
Gotta love ski tools!

Interesting video of JC. I don't see how the "progression" really works as shown in this video. It seems to be a classic case of using skiing technique that you need to "throw out" to advance to the next level. In the big round turns we see lots of inclination (no CB) and the hips following the skis (no CA). Then "suddenly" JC moves to a more direct line and he's using CA and some CB, but his client doesn't have those "tools" in his chest because that's not what he's been practicing in making the big turns. So you see him skiing the new line very unlike JC does.
Admittedly I'm not a JC follower and not familiar with how the system works. So just as I get frustrated with those that haven't really studied PMTS yet comment on the system, I imagine my comments may frustrate a JC follower.

Hey HA...
I'm not any more a JC follower as I am a HH follower...I have been in both schools and took with me tools that I can apply all over the mountain.
Honestly, for me...I take what works, gives me the greatest pleasure on snow and allows me to explore more of the mountain.
John's focus is teaching how to rely on the up hill ski baby toe edge to release a turn and the drift or float...add in pole touch timing....adds up to tools to help mange speed and direction. The video only shows a limited dimension of what is actually being taught on snow...some skills I know where taught in both ski schools.
I find there's always something to learn from world class skiers. It may be more about "which principals resonate with the skier".
