No boys..how many skis....MY go to the mountain east or west are the FX94's and the Rev 105's....Svend you exaggerate with humor !
My 84's may not see duty...however I must admit I may remove the bindings from my MX78's and put them on the 84's....and the Elan Amphibio's hang on the rack waiting to meet their new owners..
WAIT...that's 5 pair of skis....I am so in denial!
Mike...get those Sollies smoking out there...9" of pow....I'm so jonesing for that...sweet....can't wait to hear the report. As for new toys for the boys...hey.....whooping and hollering all over the mountain is my motto...and whatever makes that possible.
The Soul 7 for sure is a very interesting ski...if me just flexing is any indication....Ron is going to be skiing it in some sweet conditions at the Boat starting today...looking forward to that report. Please Ron, Don't make me try those ski's....please....?!

Gary
I apologize for the comments about the 94 eventually becoming rock skis. I saw sooo many of them yesterday in Aspen, and, rode the lifts with a local who had them....he loved them. Hmmm, I wonder when Ron will sell his. Can I get priority on the resale?
Day 1 on the Sollies was a hoot on some mixed snow conditions. Fun skis.

Mike....it looks like you will be getting some pretty significant snow....no rocks for you and as for the lad with the rocked out 94's...I hope they served him well. NO apologies required my friend, no harm or foul at all.
More on my 94's as they tackle more snow conditions.
So....have you found the sweet spot on the 98's? G

Gary,
We returned to Snowmass as it's a PITA to get anywhere else when staying 50 yards from the slopes, and, it started to snow last night and all throughout the day. Nuking at times, at least a foot by noon.
The Q98's and I are bonding nicely. Today was what that ski was designed for, I just smiled all day. Nice in trees and powder, soft flex does not through me out of balance in bumps. I was a better skier with them, and, staying much more in the fall line. But, it was a perfect snow day. I'll do a more detailed review in a few days. They are the only skis I brought, so, it's all in witu h the 98's.
Your 94's would have made you very happy today, but, you probably would have done the Head 105's. Are you into overlap?

Fun skis. my guess is that you will be waiting a long time on the FX's. They are my favorite ski by far. The more I ski them, the more I like them and they are making me a better skier. To get the best out of them, you need to be on your game. You can cruise on them but that's not what they are for. So open up the wallet and make the investment! Other ski's are for fun and I truly enjoy skiing different one's. I still love my Praxis protests for surfy, fun skiing and busting through chopped broken snow. They are so easy to ski, pivot on a dime. For skiing light powder though, I am really enjoying my Soul 7's. what a super fun, easy, light flickable, carve able, floaty ski......

Hey Mike...so glad you're getting some great snow...Ron's up in Steamboat enjoying the same...lots an lots of pow!
Glad to hear the 98's are spot on for ya...look forward to more on your review as to their versatility in the variety of conditions you encounter on your trip. I am glad to hear you're finding them pleasant and easy to ski.
As for overlap...the FX94 and the Rev 105 are entirely two different skis. The 94 behaves more like a power carver compared to the Rev...the 94 has much more immediate feedback while the Rev's dampness does wonderfully in the pow.
Although both skis are VERY easy to go edge to edge...with the 105 having a 14 m turning radius and the 94 having a 17.5....it's how the 94 responds on hardpack eastern or western....very quick and powerful...that makes the difference for me. The 94 is also more responsive in the bumps. Both skis drift very well.... it's just that I can feel without a doubt the extra width of the tips and tails with the 105.
So for now....I'm happy with my selection....but there's always our personal evolution in ski gear...now that's just plain fun!
Make some pow in the face turns for me...
All the best, G

Ron has been conducting his own ski test...and to his credit....and my demo on his 94's..I now own a pair..
Have not tried his Praxis or the Soul 7......I keep telling myself ...be very afraid!
I really do find that the new gear truly does offer on snow advantages no matter what or where you ski.
Specifically,
Turn initiation Edge hold Stability Float Drift and most important....I'm finding their range of versatility has a larger ski conditions spectrum without loosing significant performance...truly amazing!

But, the best predictor of future skis, is what you've done in the past, so I predict that your love of shiney, new tech 2015 has you drooling to demo. Yeah, you may hang onto the 94's longer than average, but, we all know they will be a damn near new ski when sold.

I have seen what's new for next season and there is nothing that even remotely interests me in this class of ski. The 94 is so superb, there is simply nothing else at this point that has me thinking, "whats better". AS far as wear and tear; its not my fault it keep snowing up here and I have to ski this damn powder stuff Stay tuned for my FX104 review....
