Should be good conditions to test a carver, but maybe not so great for wider boards. Looking forward to your report. BTW, don't go out of your way to try a mid-80's ski for me. Only if you're done with your own demoing and want to take one for a quick scoot. You're there for your own needs, and that takes precedence.
Re. the Outland 87, I posted a review back on the old forum. I can move it over here if there is interest. It does ski short, was my impression, so for your height I would try a 184 if they have one. OTOH, I skied a 178, and it had remarkable edge grip on hard crusty/icy snow for a ski that length and width (I am 6'2", 220 lbs). Very agile, too. Higher fun factor than the Peak 84.

The Elk demo day turned out to be pretty good skiing. To our surprise, it snowed about 4" of a heavier wet snow on top of hard refrozen snow. The new stuffed packed down very nicely so it was possible to find good snow on the sides of trails all day. The middle of many trails skied off very quickly resulting in edge-able skiing (mostly), but, there were plenty of patches of some good old eastern hard stuff. Lots of mounded up soft snow to blast through. It was great to see the Peak Skiers duo.
I'll do a thread about the demo's I got onto.
