Okay, I can finally reply to this thread. Until today, I have not been a skier this season and have not used any skis. Now I am happy . Good day for 1st of season. Walked off mountain and did not tip over once (for you PMTS followers, I did tip ). Todays skis: Head Monster 78's 171cm. Will use for questionable conditions like today that ranged from solid ice, smooth groomer, firm groomer, shaved and piled stuff on edges, minimal to moderate bumps and willing to let rocks have their way with the bottoms. In the future, when conditions improve: Head iSupershape KERS 165cm. Will use groomed man made snow and groomed firm or injected natural snow. Head Rock n Roll 173cm. Will use for soft and "true" powder, bumps, trees etc. Really like this ski except on firm groomers where it is hard on the knees.

Walked off mountain and did not tip over once (for you PMTS followers, I did tip ). Meput: When PMTS'ers talk about "tipping" they are referring to an action with the ankle. Tipping with the wrist, as when imbibing alcoholic beverages, doesn't qualify as an Essential Movement in the PMTS handbook. Glad you got on the snow. Still about 10 days away for us.

I will tip anyway I can get it. The foot with a ski, the wrist with a beer, the donation to the doorman and waitress, etc. But, I am not a big fan of tipping over while skiing. Can hurt and is a pain to get back upright. Kind of like cow tipping and I am the cow (uh oh, that is a bad mental image for an analogy). You to may learn this, as you get older .

Well said, sir. Jay Leno after a motorcycle accident comes to mind. Some elderly woman walks over and asks if he's OK? "I've fallen and I can't get up." I've "tipped" a time or two on skis and mtn bikes where laying there for bit before getting up seemed like the appropriate action.

Back at it after a long recess...5'9" 165 lbs over 50. At this point rationalizing the one pair per year quiver development plan.
Thus far;
Blizzard 7.6 Magnum / 170 cm (124-76-107) 15m - Hardpack, Great Cruising Ski very stable at speed (Mine anyway) Good Carver too
Head Rev 85 PRO / 170 cm - (131-85-113) 14.7m - All Around "Light", Forgiving/Relaxing, Hard Pack, "Light" Chop, Light Powder
RADAR ON for a wider ski- Perhaps - Salomon Q98/105's, Line Prophet 98's, Line SFB's, Rev 105's.
If the weather cooperates, I should be on the slopes day after Thanksgiving.

To funny Byronm..."one quiver ski, pisahw" Nice mix of current skis....covers a great variety of conditions enhancing time on snow. Be interested in hearing what "fat" ski you go to. Looking forward to getting on snow here soon in upstate NY. ENJOY! G

+1 Question: How many pairs of skis do you need? Answer: One more pair than you currently have!

I am not old but not super young either. all mountain self proclaimed expert. 140cm Marquette BC ski/Voile 3 pin - short fat scaled three pin ski, used for walking the dog and getting powder turn anywhere aka bushwacking 173cm kastle Mx83/K12ti - groomers, hardpack bumps quite honestly anything as long I will not hit stuff on them 180cm Blizzard Brahmas/marker Jester - everything with biased towards cruddy groomers and skied out trees/bumps 177cm Blizzard "the one"/marker griffon - rock skis but still come out for early season packed powder thin cover skiing 177cm Nordica Soul Rider/Marker griffon/NTN with inserts - everything again with a biased toward bumps and skied out trees, plus my only DH bias tele ski 185cm Nordica Patron/STH2 916 - powder,slush and better at medium radius turn on groomer than everything else beside the kastle, kinda of wide for bump but not really that bad. the soul rider is basically a mini version of them. 185cm Blizzard Cochise/Look P18 - Crud and all mountain ninja stick 186cm Rossingnol Sickle/marker Duke - powder, especially thin cover powder or anything I need to skin to, slight better than the Patrons in tight tree and bumps, much worse on groomers and hardpack 192cm Rossi WC GS/Look P18 - Gs racing 195cm PM Gear Super Bro/Look PX18 - GS/SG turns, easier and safer to ski on a daily basis than the GS skis. Cadillacs

Welcome Back, Kotter!
I see you are branching out again to other forums. It's greats, a lot of these forums really drag without some pointed personalities and different ideas.
