Folks, we've already had our first East meets West peak skier zone meet up of the season! HighAngles was kind enough to make some turns with me at Loveland for a couple hours last Thursday morning. (Yes, a work day.) Little did he know that I would be trying a radical change in fore-aft alignment for my new boots with him as my impartial observer and judge I'd like to thank him for the candid feedback and good company! He's always good company and knows an amazing amount about ski gear, so look him up if you're heading out to Summit County this season.

Hi Todd
Glad you and High Angles got to make some turns. I don't think I've ever skied with someone who pays attention to the small details of skiing, and ski equipment, than he does. His knowledge of ski gear is amazing, especially considering he has a full time real job. In addition, he not only talks the talk, but, he skis the ski. At the Epic Gatherings few can match his technical skiing.
I hope to ski with him again in Utah in early February. If you see him again, say Hi.
PS I envy your ability to get to Co. and ski this early in the season. If it gets colder, maybe in 5 weeks my home mountain may open. Give us a report out on your HH camp.

No camp. Just picking up new boots and getting back on skis. I had conflicts with the US-based camps this year. I'll be going to Hintertux at the end of March and skiing with HH a bit at the beginning of March.

How much is open at Loveland?? How much snow does it take to get best stuff in operation? Are they there yet? I'm still a month from skiing--which is ok, the MTB season has stellar this year. Though having ski dreams!

Thanks for the kind words ToddW - it was great to have you back out at LL. I hope the new shells and liners work out well for you - I think you chose wisely.

Thanks for the kinds words too LP. I'm still working on my plan to try for the Utah gathering. I wish they hadn't picked the same week as the SIA demos. That leaves me with only Wed-Sat to ski and it's a toss up as to whether it will be worth the effort, but I'm still leaning toward going at this point.

Though having ski dreams! LL is in much better shape so far this season than last season. That said, we still need snow! Generally the good stuff (The Ridge) opens once about 10' of snow has fallen. We're currently at 66" for the season, but there's another maybe 10" in the forecast through Sunday. I would be really surprised if we're not skiing The Ridge by Christmas this year. I just have the feeling that the Northwest flow is gonna be happening this season and that's the track that brings the frozen fluffy gifts to LL.
