Does anyone else remember from recent patterns what the El Nino effect was on snowfall?? There was a piece in the NY Times today about the probability of a significant El-Nino building through the summer, but most of the points were about the effect on summer temperatures (and how that will probably affect people's opinions on global warming). Then, I also found the following on the Washington Post web site that included a note that two of the smallest snowfalls on record coincided with strong El Nino patterns. www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/capital-weather-gang/wp/2014/03/20/subtle-signs-emerging-of-a-super-el-nino/Help me remember the effects from past El Nino years. Did Utah get more snow than Colorado because of the moisture coming from the South, or did they get less because it fell as rain instead of snow? What was the general effect on the I-70 Colorado resorts? Should we suggest to Todd that he skip his annual Killington season pass and just do all of his skiing in Canada?? One of the good news items from the articles suggested that the droughts through the southern Great Plains may be ended as significant amounts of moisture are funneled eastward by the reversing Trade Winds from the Pacific.

Time to break open the piggy bank and take the Gulfstream out of mothballs. Skiing is such a demanding sport ....

I would prefer to stay in the cabin where you have the Geisha girls attending to your every whim.
So much for our fantasy world; does anyone have any real memories of the effects of El Nino last time around?
