On Friday, Jan. 10th, Elk's annual demo day occurs. JimRatliff (aka Gandof) and I plan to attend and partake of the demo opportunity. Jim will be flying solo as Lynn has some work commitments and I will miss seeing her again.
My agenda includes some wider skis, the Solly Q90 and Q98 which are candidates for the upcoming Utah trip. If Head is present, then the Supershape Speed and the Rev 105. Nordica, K2, Elan, Fisher, Rossi, Dynastar are usually present.
Anybody have a specific request or thoughts on what to try. Conditions on the actual day have varied from new snow to very hard refrozen icy, so, final choices may change. My dream is still to find a wider western ski that changes edges quickly, but, it may be and impossible dream.

LP THe scheduling goddess has looked upon me with favor and taken me off a day I always work! Looking forward to seeing you again and having some fun with demo day. With all the positive word of mouth, it would be fun to demo the mya 7, though if HH likes it, its probably too much ski for me. I will be taking out the mya 8's today for their first spin. Lynn

Lynn,
Great that you will be at Elk. Is Broadway Jim still planning on using your skis?

LP - for you, it might be fun to try a Nordica Steadfast. It's supposed to be a fantastically versatile ski - rails groomers and is great in soft snow and crud. Light too, which should make your knees happy. I have read nothing but glowing reviews on it.
Also on the theme of happy knees and lighter skis, I wonder if something like a Watea 96 or Atomic Theory would fit the bill? Most of the Watea line and Atomic's Vantage line are light in weight, light on the snow feel too.
LP and Jim - if there is a mid-80's hard snow biased ski there, and you have a hankering to take something like that for a spin, then do a few runs on it for me. At some point I will be replacing my old Nordie Mach 3's, and a mid-80's ski would work well at my local hill. Something like an Elan 82, Blizzard Mag 8.5, Nordica Firearrow....that kind of thing. I tried a Peak 84 a couple of years ago and REALLY liked it. Not sure if the Rev 85 is an improvement on it or not, esp. wrt. hard snow performance. (No need to demo that one, as many here know that ski well).
Enjoy the day! Sounds like fun.
Hey Lynn, how did the new Mya's work for you today? All good? T took her new Mya 9's for their inaugural day on snow yesterday, and she loved them. Everything the guys have said about the Rock 'n Roll seems to also be true about the Mya 9. Review to come....but first impressions are that this ski is another home run for her.

Svend, you will have an upcoming demo of the Rev85 at 184 if you want it. Binding easily adjustable.

LP, have you considered the Outland 87? I just read Dawg's review on Epic www.epicski.com/t/117823/well-tuned-dynastar-outland-87-moneyHis closing comment was that it was one of the best, most versatile skis he has ever owned....period. Quite the accolade, coming from him. Others commented that it was easy on the knees. My own impressions, having skied it for a day, and knowing your former Sultan 94's so well , are that they have a significantly lighter feel on the snow than the Sultans. Much less demanding, far more agile, more lively. I would say that they are better in every way than the Sultans, except perhaps off-piste (where I did not try the Outlands) Might be worth a demo(?)

Svend,
Thanks for the thoughts on the Steadfast and Outland 87. I was reading the same Epic thread by Dawg and added it to my list. I noted your 80's carver interest and will do my best to get on one. I am a fan on Elan and their rep is always at Elk. I suspect that it will be a hard snow day due to the recent warm weather and rain followed by very hard freeze. It's 4 in Philly this morning, a new low temp for the day. We southern skiers are such wimps in single digits.
