Mike...hmmm...let me see Aspen/Snowbird or Holiday Valley....hmmmm....certainly the clear choice would have been Svend, Perry, me and the 12 other guys this year! Makers Mike will be missed...he is a IGST legend...one born out of leadership and example...yes Mike...your name will be shouted at the top of Greer on a powder morning....unfortunately, I won't hear it cause I'll be at the bottom lapping the run in 7 inches of fresh! We look forward to you being with us next year...tell the Aspen/Snowbird clan that Makers Mike is the standard the IGST lives by... Miss ya brother and have a fantastic snow filled trip...all the best, G

Watch it Perry! Us vikings have very sensitive dispositions. We are easily insulted, and can fly into a rage at the least provocation. You might be safest sleeping in the bathroom with the door locked
Oh, and, no whiskey for you, pal. Harrumph!
Seriously, I'm really looking forward to this weekend, and to meeting you. It's going to be just a great time. See you Friday!

LP -- we're gonna miss you. It's really a bummer that I won't get to meet you. Thwarted again, but at least for a much more pleasant reason this time. Have a fantastic time out west, and have blast on your new boards.
All the best! Svend

The IGST this past weekend was another great success. I'll let Gary post on some of the particulars, but I just want to say what a wonderful time I had meeting old friends again and making some new ones too. Very congenial camaraderie, lots of laughs, stimulating conversations, and of course some great skiing. I enjoyed every minute of it.
I finally got to meet the infamous Perry, and had a blast skiing and sipping some fine mellow whiskey with him. Looking forward to getting together with you again, Perry.
We were just missing LivingProof, is all. Next year, LP, you must forgo the fluffy powder of Aspen and join us.
Finally, a big shout out to Gary for all his efforts in organizing this whole thing. Hotel reservations, restaurant bookings, the works -- it takes a lot of time and effort, and is much appreciated. Well done G! Thanks for making it happen.

I had a great time and returned to the office today with a big grin on my face. Spending time with Gary and Alice is always great but meeting Svend was the cherry on the ice cream. We had mixed eastern conditions and some were difficult. The second day was 4-6 inches of heavy snow over a sheet of frozen. It would ski really well and then give way and slide on the frozen sheet beneath, changes in momentum with the piles, in the snow, on the frozen etc. This was GREAT for my skiing. Only my fourth day on the snow and it really centered my balance and dialed me in. Great friends, food, and skiing and all around good time. I met some other funny and engaging people as well. Would have loved to meet LP. His excuse note said he was in Aspen in knee deep powder - that passed the board of review.

The IGST was a great success because of great personalities like Svend and Perry...where do 15 strangers get together, ages 22-64 and just ski, laugh, share all sorts of personal and funny experiences.....just a fantastic group.
Conditions ranged from perfect edge setting snow at Bristol, to 4" of pow over ice...AND everyone had game!
Already locking the date in next year...Feb 1st, 2015....
There were some great moments as well in the local ski shops,...fondling new skis and boots...Svend (the professor) aka The Viking, bends a ski like it's a rubber band.....AND many wise suggestions for one of our attendies....who had as all in stitches while trying on new boots....stand up comedy at it's best.
Mike...you were missed and asked about....hoping you can make it next season...as well as anyone else that wants to share a quality experience with a GREAT group of skiers.
Best, G

I neglected to thank HeluvaSkier for the ski day at Holimont. We all skied as his guest. It was fun to meet him and gawk at his Fischer GS skis (what are they 205 ?) I don't know how much faster they would make him - he is like someone shot out of a cannon on the hill. Holimont is a cool, family place with crockpots along the wall and people putting tablecloths on the tables. (Heluva brought one for ours) It reminded me a little of the atmosphere at A-basin where everyone backs up the truck and starts the grill. The men in our group brought venison rolls - jalepeno, jack cheese, venison, wrapped with bacon............BAM . We also had 12 dozen clams on the grill..........BUOYA So thanks Greg!

Perry, Thanks for the shout out. GS skis are only 190s and cannon is a bit of an overstatement. Lol. I’m glad you all enjoyed our little mountain. It truly is a unique place. You guys arrived in style with the food you brought; soup in the crock pot, grilled clams, and the now famous venison wraps. Of course, a huge thanks to Gary for putting this together every year and including me. It is great to catch up with you all every year. It was great to share the day with the group, and you’re all always welcome back anytime you’d like to stop by for a few turns. Cheers! Greg
