Well it's a Nov Sunday morning...cold, damp, no snow...no skiing, no golf... Coffee in hand, I head to my basement shop...start bending and flexing skis....ya, sad I know...BUT..I noticed when I pressed on the brakes and released, the brakes stayed down. Probably not a big deal cause it doesn't represent the true load and release on snow but I put a couple dabs of 3&1 oil in the spring and whamo, they spring up like a morning ...well you guys know. BUT even more important cause I was still bored, I got out my Phillips head screwdriver and checked all the screws on all of our daily drivers and pow skis..AND I found some needed tightening as much as a 1/4 of a turn. NOT good to have loose bindings cause there's lag time everytime you move your foot AND more important, ya just don't want those suckers coming off when on snow. OK...go now and caress your skis...hold them, love them and lube them! Best, G

All levity aside, this is a serious issue, but I suggest a different approach. I recommend "gently"checking for loose screws. If a screw is loose then the seal provided by the glue has been broken. If you don't want the core to be exposed to water then you should fully remove the screw and put some binding glue into the hole before replacing the screw. Ski specific glue is best, but wood glue will work fine for most ski types.

HA>.....thanks for that...my approach was very light hearted but very serious in nature...it's something skiers should look at.
I've had bindings come loose ONCE...and that was enough.
Got the time now gang...check out yours and let us know what you find.
thanks G

So if I hear High Angles correctly, the operative word is gently lest you also break the glue bond and facilitate the loosening of the screw??

Gary -- just curious...were the loose screws in bindings with plates, or flat mounted? In past, I have found some that were slightly loose (1/4 turn) in plate-mounted bindings, but never in flat-mounted.
I wonder if blue Loctite would work for this application? (plate only, that is; not flat-mounted) I use it for bike fasteners all the time. Anyone have any experience with this?

The shop that drilled and mounted the PR plate on Lynn's SkiLogiks used blue Loctite on the plate screws. Note that some of the screws are in slotted holes and the ski has to slide under the rail. I imagine that tightening those too much would counter productive.)
