Lynn is very interested in the MYA #8 and would love to find a place in Colorado (Denver or Dillon) to rent/demo/rent to buy when we are there the second week in December. Does anyone know of any shops that carry a lot of the Head line where I could check for and pre-reserve a 163cm MYA #8 for Lynn?

Can't point you to a specific shop in CO, Jim, but I have found some good sources at other ski areas by simply doing a Google search for ski rentals. Not sure how much you've dealt with rental shops lately, but many have a selection of high performance models that would impress any expert skier. They usually have their model range posted online. Resort rental shops may also have higher end gear. The Mya 8 that our daughters demoed last year was found at the rental shop at base lodge of Lake Louise, and it was just one of many very nice skis by Head, Dynastar and Blizzard. Good luck, and I'm sure Lynn will enjoy those.

OK, so Svend notified us that Sierra Trading Post had last years Head MYA8's, and that there was a "today only" 40% off email, and the MYA's were covered under that discount. Suffice it to say that $250 for a pair of last year's skis still in the shrinkwrap is too good a deal to pass up. Note that these were flat, no bindings, but that is what Lynn needed anyway..
High Angles and Svend, thanks for your help.

At your service, sir! Looking forward to her feedback once she gets on them in Colorado.
Lynn, enjoy the new boards, and congrats! Have fun!

The Mya 8's arrived today. Very nice looking. Not girly at all. However, they match my ski jacket and pants almost too much Looks like I bought them for the coordination. Jim was laughing his a** off, but requested a chance to demo them. He likes the flex a lot and is being influenced by Dan's liking of women's GS skis. ( I'll let you know how that works out) Now, we know it's all about function, not form. Will be posting a review come 2nd week of december. On hand flex, they feel stiffer than the muanga's, but definitely softer than the Isis Ski Logics. Signed, stylish affectations

Why, you look simply smashing, my dear! You do realize that I only recommended those skis knowing your purple jacket would match their topsheet shade just perfectly. Style is everything when all eyes on the slopes are on you, darlin'. Love it! Enjoy them, and I look forward to hear how they work out on the slopes. I expect lots of "Oooh's" and "Ahhh's", and whispered "Don't she look sytlin'!" from the chairlift onlookers. P.S.: nail polish colour no. 653 by MAC will go just nicely. Not that I would know....

Hmm, I don't wear nail polish on my fingers very often, but may just for ski vacation! Svend, you are in trouble. If the mac color is really just right for this ski combo, EVERYONE on the forum is going to want to know why the "Viking" knows so much about nail polish color. Lynn

Lest anyone take me for a poofter, let's be clear here: I had an in-house fashion consultant looking over my shoulder when I checked out your purple jacket / ski combo (which elicited a few complimentary remarks, by the way). Hey, I live with three lovely gals, who know about such things. Me...I know DIN numbers and bike torque values. They know MAC colour codes...

really nice ski! Jim, nothing wrong with Womens ski's; they are usually just lighter core construction better suited to less weight and forces. Most men would never know the difference if they put the same tops on them.
However, get on a pair of Rally's this season and be prepared to use your credit card. Simply one of the very best groomer specific ski's I have ever been on. Its not just a carver but a do anything on groomed snow (Although I wouldn't want it for bumps or crud)

UPdate on MYA 8
I skied these twice the past week in Colorado. We missed the big storms, just really nice packed powder with some soft stuff between trails and in the trees. Jim and I haven't had much powder to practice in the past 2-3 years and our powder skills are.....poor. Back seat, sluggish etc. Began to work on a light touch later in the week on the spots we could find. This is so say that the "archer" has lacks, not the ski.
I found the Mya 8s to be versatile and fairly easy to ski thru pushed up piles and crud. The verdict is out on deep snow for now... On the groomed trails, they edged well and turned nicely. However, my ankles felt worn out at days end. Knees were a little sore too. But this was also at the end of 6 days in a row of skiing. You know, that PMTS stuff, tip, tip and then tip some more. Hence the interest in a 66mm waist ski.
I really like the MYA 8's for a soft snow ski. I hope to ski them in some fresh snow to see how they do. It's an on going relationship and we are just in the early romantic stages. Getting to real committment takes knowing each other better.
