For as much as I've hemmed and hawed telling all around "I need nothing".....my experience starting the season on my Elan Amphibio 12's was lack luster...although it's a very easy ski to "get around " on...think Chevy Impala....it doesn't have the snap of the Corvette. I miss that hard surface performance after retiring my kastle MX 78's. The energy is just not there.
Even though most of my skiing is on my Kastle FX94's...I knew I wanted something for those hard icy firm snow days....and yet for the little time I will spend on them...I didn't want to pay the long dollar for brand new.
My quest found me a pair of Kastle MX83 skied 23 times ....Got them for $420 with the demo binding. Everyone I know who has had a pair of 83's loved their performance.
So...they should arrive next week and will be taken to my lab for a complete exam and "re-tune" to make them "Gary worthy"...
Pretty sure I got my bases covered with the new to arrive Kastle MX83, my Kastle FX94 and my big boy ski...Salomon Q115....yup...I gotta pair and then some!
Can't wait to try the 83's and report back.

No one here is shocked to know you changed your quiver! Winter ski season has officially opened with this announcement. Enjoy and we will await the on-snow review.

phenomenal ski but I will await your findings. I did not find it having the characteristics you are looking for. Super smooth, uber stable, classic Kastle feel but its not intended to have that race-stock SL feel. It does drift incredibly well due to the profile. I still think you would LOVE the Head Rally. its got all on your check list plus, its easy to ski, not demanding and is happy at any speed, the caveat is I didn't find the Rally to be as willing to drift as it likes to be on edge with its 13m something TR.

Hey guys, just got back from visiting Washington. Mike...I SO MISS the Mustang all covered and started once per week....and plenty of fun snap there.
Hey Ron..nice quick review of the Head Rally.....I really wasn't trying to duplicate the mx78. I was trying to find something between the Élan and the 78. Thinking the mx83 might fit that bill. Next week will tell.
Skiing here on limited terrain...but making turns. Yeha!
