Time to roll out this recurring thread that has been a mini-Peak Skiers gathering. The event should be Friday, January 9 at Elk Mountain in N/E Pa. I am hoping Jim and Lynn can find some open space in Lynn's schedule. Last year, we had a mini powder day where the love affair with the Solly Q98 blossomed. I've been touting the event on Epic and there is some interest from locals.
Any skis of interest from the 2015 models? K2, Atomic, Rossi, Blizard, Nordica, Fischer, Volkl, Line and Dynastar are usually present. I am hoping Head will rejoin the ski companies represented, as, I like to make turns on the Supershape Speed. Not sure a new carver is on the agenda this season, but, my 78 Hart Pulse skis will be 3 years old by seasons end, so, one never knows. My history has been after 3 years, the appeal of something new and shiney beckons.

I don't think the appeal of having a Pulse will ever be lost on me...

Hey Mike....have you tried or will they have the Kastle MX83?
It's one ski I'd love to demo myself. Alice loves hers as did Ron.
OK you Pulse boys.....if you were to make the closest comparison of the Pulse....which ski would it be closest to in overall performance?

G, Kastle has not been to Elk in 2 years, but, if they return, I'll be all over the MX 83. As to the Pulse options, I have not a clue other than the usual suspects around 80 mm. For sure, sub 80 skis are getting very tough to find and fewer 78's are available. Anybody with tight PMTS ties know what HH now recommends in narrow carvers? I'd love to demo anything he recommends based on past experiences. Elan is a regular at Elk, I like their carvers. I only demo 1 or 2 days a year, and, the same vendors are at the same mountains.
Just sayin' but, Elk should only be about 3 plus hours from Rochester.

I remember Diana saying that she liked Elan skis. That was a while ago and things have changed in the ski world. I am scheduled to work 1/9/15, but will see if I can do a switch. It would be fun to do again! Lynn

HSS recommends the i.supershape speed (which is a different ski than the similarly named i.speed) as a generic carving ski. They also sell the i.sl (vanilla, not RD) aimed at accomplished recreational carving die hards.
But if you're looking for new skis, I'd just ski off with Heluva's skis. They're so fast, he'll never catch you ;-)

As for comparable skis not made by Blossom... there is Kastle 78 (tail gunners apply here), Head (not sure what they call their 78 these days... seems to change as often as I change my socks), and these new Blizzard skis everyone is talking about... Latigo and Cheyenne.

Latigo and Cheyenne. Helluva, Please tell me you are not buying into marketing! Why these two? @ Gary The demo day is Friday Jan. 9....think about it. Your drive and mine will be about the same. Back to the Pulse ski, no metal in these puppies. General consensus is: no metal = less grip = not correct in my Pulse skis.
